Radio moments
Honestly, having a microphone's just an excuse to meet all sorts of fascinating people and have a go at things I wouldn't normally get to try. I've been floored in less than a second by a Master of martial arts, had rats and spiders crawling over me and cycled backwards on a reverse tandem, all while live on the radio.
There are more glamorous occasions; talking fan tattoos over a pint of finest ale with Ian Rankin, finding out Mary Berry's take on the three second rule and singing along with Hugh Cornwell to Golden Brown in the fire escape of a Bath bakery.
I’ve interviewed a huge range of people - Gary Barlow, Barry Humphries, Blowers, Michael Palin, Margaret Atwood, Professor Brian Cox as well as political leaders of all colours, academics, experts and listeners.... Here’s a tiny sample of what I do on the radio. Lots more can be found at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p087526k/episodes/player
